The Young India Fellowship (YIF) is a multidisciplinary postgraduate program that aims to groom young leaders and change-makers in India. It is an initiative of the Ashoka University. Fellows get involved in a variety of fields of study, research, or practice, made possible by the mentoring offered by top academics and thinkers of the day. The Ashoka university young India fellowship is tenable for one year. The PG diploma programme under the fellowship is based on Experiential Learning Module (ELM). ELM is a multidisciplinary course in liberal arts. The fellows under this program can pursue the courses offered by the partner universities.

Young India Fellowship Selection Process
Stage 1- Application Assessment: Applications will be evaluated by the Fellowship’s Selection Committee. A selection committee of YIF will be constituted comprising the teachers and executive members of the program. Candidates will be evaluated based on their previous academic merit and their involvement in extra-curricular activities. Their interests and concerns are also considered motivations for a meaningful life expressed in thought-provoking essays.
Stage 2- Telephonic Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a telephonic interview. The committee will share the interview details on the registered email id of the candidates. The duration of the interview is usually about 20 minutes. This is an elimination round. This means, if selected in this round candidates directly go to the personal interview round.
Stage 3- Comprehension Test and Personal Interview: On the day of the Personal Interview, The candidates should attempt the comprehension test before attending the personal interview. They will be tested on their reading, understanding, articulation skills, and critical thinking ability, not on their knowledge of the subject matter. The committee will organize the interview in Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai. Candidates who are staying overseas can attend the interview over a Skype call.
